Published in French between 1823 and 1827 and translated into English in 1838, this five-volume edition of Thiers' work became a staple of British bookshelves. Volume 4 begins with the consequences of Robespierre's downfall and concludes with an analysis of Napoleon's Italian victories in 1796.
