After the 1990s, civil society, in all its many forms, was no longer seen as the flawless solution to the world's problems as it once was. This volume contains profiles of 44 countries; and looks at factors such as civic engagement, democracy, gender equity and civil society's role in policy, and the overall health of each country's civil society.
