Symmetric Functions, Schubert Polynomials and Degeneracy Loci

Grew out of an advanced course taught by the author at the Fourier Institute, this book presents an introduction to the combinatorics of symmetric functions, to Schur and Schubert polynomials. It studies the geometry of Grassmannians, flag varieties, and their Schubert varieties. It examines profound connections that unite these two subjects.
